Tea is built on anonymity. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how we keep your information safe. By using Tea, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Account information

Email address — required for account creation and recovery
Alias and avatar — chosen by you, displayed publicly
Authentication provider — Apple, Google, or email

Content you create

Posts, polls, comments, verdicts, reactions, hashtags
Images you upload
Bookmarks and topic preferences

Automatically collected

Device type, OS version, app version
Crash reports and performance data (via Firebase Crashlytics)
Push notification token (if enabled)
IP address (used for abuse prevention, then discarded)

2. What we don't collect

Your real name, phone number, or address
Your contacts or address book
Your precise location
Browsing data outside the app
Biometric data

3. How we use your information

To run the app — show your posts, deliver verdicts, send notifications
To keep Tea safe — detect abuse, enforce community guidelines, respond to reports
To improve Tea — fix crashes, understand which features are used
To contact you — verification emails, password resets, important account notices

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for advertising purposes.

4. Anonymity and identity

Your alias is the only identity other users see. Your email and authentication details are never shown publicly. We do not link your alias to your real identity, and we do not have access to your real name unless you provide it voluntarily (e.g., in support emails).

5. Service providers

We use trusted third parties to operate Tea:

Supabase — database, authentication, file storage
Firebase (Google) — push notifications, crash reporting
Apple Sign In — optional authentication
Google Sign In — optional authentication

These providers process data on our behalf under strict data protection agreements.

6. Data retention

Active accounts: data is retained as long as your account exists
Deleted accounts: removed within 30 days, except where law requires retention
Reported content: retained up to 90 days for moderation review
Backups: encrypted and rotated every 30 days

7. Your rights

You have the right to:

Access the data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and personal data
Export your content in a portable format
Object to certain types of processing

8. Children

Tea is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will remove it immediately.

9. International transfers

Your data may be processed in countries other than your own. We use standard contractual clauses and other safeguards to protect data in transit and at rest.

10. Security

We use industry-standard encryption (TLS in transit, AES-256 at rest), role-based access control, and regular security audits. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect your data.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app and by email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
