Safety & Community Guidelines

Last updated: May 6, 2026

Tea is built on respect. Anonymity is a tool for honesty — not a license for harm. These guidelines explain what we expect and what we do not allow.

What we do not allow

Harassment and hate

  • Bullying, threats, or targeted harassment
  • Hate speech based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
  • Encouraging self-harm or suicide

Privacy violations

  • Doxxing — sharing personal information (names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces) without consent
  • Posting private images without consent
  • Outing someone's identity, sexuality, or status

Sexual and explicit content

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit images, videos, or text
  • Solicitation or unwanted sexual content
  • Any content involving minors in unsafe contexts

Violence and dangerous behavior

  • Threats of violence or content glorifying violence
  • Promotion of dangerous activities or substances
  • Content supporting terrorism or organized crime

Deception

  • Impersonating real people or organizations
  • Spam, scams, phishing
  • Fake engagement or coordinated inauthentic behavior

How we enforce these rules

We use a combination of:

  • User reports — every post has a report button
  • Active moderation — our team reviews reports within 24 hours
  • Automatic detection — we use safety filters on text and images
  • Account actions — warnings, suspensions, and permanent bans

How to report

  1. Tap the ••• menu on any post or comment
  2. Select Report
  3. Choose a category that matches the violation
  4. Add details if helpful

Reports are confidential. The reported user is not told who reported them.

How to block

To stop someone from interacting with you, open their profile, tap the ••• menu, and select Block. Blocked users cannot see your posts, vote on your verdicts, or comment on your stories.
